Andy Pryke
I’m Andy Pryke and I have been practicing the Bowen Technique for 7 years.
In that time I have been frequently amazed by the effectiveness of this gentle hands-on treatment. From the first treatment that I received (which convinced me to train) through the many patients I have treated, some of whom had been seeing bodywork therapists of more well-known, longer-established fields for years prior to Bowen, results are consistently good and at times truly spectacular after only one or two sessions.
The subtle input of the Bowen ‘moves’ relax and stimulate the body to simultaneously repair and re-balance. A Bowen treatment is both a restoration and prevention against future illness and injury. Many professional sports clubs now employ a Bowen Therapist!
Most of the conditions I treat are muscular-skeletal – back pain, sciatica, frozen shoulders, tennis elbow, etc – but I have also had success with hay fever, asthma, migraines and stomach complaints. Whatever your complaint, why not try a Bowen treatment.......Please help yourself to a leaflet at the Centre or alternatively call me to find out more!

Emma Gilmore
Emma is an advanced massage and bodywork therapist, who mainly treats people with painful conditions and dysfunctions. Emma is also able to give a deep tissue therapeutic massage to relieve stress & induce relaxation. Emma continuously updates her skills, bringing you many dimensions to her treatment, she has a bio mechanical approach, but also believes in the innate power of the body to self heal & her work prompts the body to do this.
The approach of every therapist varies enormously, due to their training, clinical & personal experience; equally every patient is completely different & presents a diverse range of issues both emotionally & physically. Emma’s approach is very personal & her main aim is to listen carefully to her client‘s needs and to develop an individual treatment plan, which may vary from session to session, depending on the client‘s specific requirements that day. Even if one person displays the same symptoms as another, their treatments could vary enormously. Using a combination of advanced massage and bodywork techniques, Emma achieves results that constantly surprise her clients.
Emma aims to empower her patients to understand their ailments and to involve them in the healing process, frequently giving easy to follow, practical home care advice. Again this may vary from session to session, as the treatment progresses; she is careful NOT to overwhelm clients with complex suggestions.
A particular interest of Emma’s is restoring space to within the body, believing many conditions arise as a result of compression. The majority of us lead sedentary lives, sitting or standing for long lengths of time. Over years this can lead to painful conditions such as compression of the vertebral column, intevertebral discs and their associated nerves. By simply encouraging space back within the body, Emma aims to reduce pain, increase mobility and client comfort.

Julia Collett
Julia Collett, Counsellor / Therapist
My name is Julia Collett. I live and work near Okehampton on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon. I also work at the Natural Health Centre in Exeter (www.enhc.org).
I have practised as a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 25 years. I have a Diploma in Psychosyntheis (Psychosynthesis and Education Trust: www.psychosynthesis.edu) as well as a Diploma in Deep Memory Process(Woolger Training International). I trained in the 1980s with Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, which led me to co-found the first Children’s Cancer Help Centre in this country, now the Rainbow Centre in Bristol.
In 1989 I began to bring regression therapy into my work. I found that many difficult life issues could not be resolved without looking at the bigger picture, journeying into deep soul memories held through many life-times. The body remembers and has an extraordinary capacity to heal itself, to restore joy and wholeness. Working with past life memories can help resolve depression, anxiety, guilt, phobias, and many other inexplicable symptoms. I often find myself working with those who have been through intra-uterine or childhood trauma. There is no hypnosis involved – the body remembers.
I am also trained as a First Nature Voice Coach and may bring this into a session, for profound healing can come from restoring the true pathways of breath within the body.
For enquiries and appointments telephone me in South Zeal, Okehampton, on 01837 840052, or Exeter Natural Health Centre, 83/84 Queen Street, Exeter, 01392 422555.

Lesley Harper
LESLEY HARPER
After graduating with an engineering degree in 1995 I spent the following ten years working in the manufacturing industry. Throughout this time my own health issues prompted me to explore alternatives to mainstream treatment options. It was here that my interest in nutritional therapy was ignited. I moved from Glasgow to Devon in order to complete my studies for the nutritional therapy diploma with the Kevala Centre; which later became the Natural Healthcare College.
I believe that sound nutrition is the foundation for optimum health. I also strongly believe that an integrated approach to healthcare is the most beneficial for the individual. In my role as a nutritional therapist, I aim to provide appropriate information and achievable recommendations in order for the individual to be able to make informed decisions about their own healthcare.
I am fully insured to practice nutritional therapy and I am a member of the Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners.

INDIAN HEAD MASAGE WITH MANDY COULL (IIHHT)
International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapies Indian Head Massage Diploma. 2001.
Throughout history massage has been written about intensively, from the writings of medical texts in 500BC to the production of the first medical books after the development of the printing press by Gutenberg around 1450.
On the Indian sub-continent massage has been practised for over 3000 years. Knowledge of massage came to India from China, and were based on finding the various points on the body where pressure, rubbing and manipulations were most effective; this then became a family tradition and is still as important as a ritual of taking food and plays a central role in the life of the family: newborn babies receive massage daily (as does the mother for 40 days after giving birth), as a child massage reduces to 2-3 times a week until about 7 years of age. At this point the child will begin to learn the massage techniques and gradually start to participate in the giving and receiving of massage with other family members.
In India Massage is also given to bride and groom prior to the wedding using oils, housewives massage each other as part of their social activity, is included as part of the service when visiting the barber shop and used weekly within the family. At holiday locations, on beaches and in the markets from Bombay and Calcutta to Goa, you will find head massage being offered. It is the most powerful method of relaxing and, at the same time, rejuvenating the body.
Oils that can be used: sesame, mustard, almond, coconut, olive, jasmine any vegetable oil, evening primrose, avocado, apricot kernel, calendula, grape seed, hazelnut, wheat germ, peach kernel, jojoba, macadamia nut and St John’s Wort.

Counselling with Mandy Coull.
How will Counselling help ?
The best form of help comes from within ourselves because no-one knows us better but it can be hard to know how to access this. I am able to help you with the skills and techniques (the tools) that I have learnt to help you find what you need, in your way, in you own time and at the pace you need.
It is also our human nature to only establish what we need at that moment which means after we think we have worked through something, later- often years later it will rise again because we need to reposition it with the additional experiences and insight we have since had in life.
As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and a fully insured professional therapist and practicing since 2003 and am able to offer L4 Integrative Counselling CPCAB (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) which I trained for over a period of 4 years.
In addition I have a Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) Diploma MASC (Member of Associated Stress Consultants) and a Psychotherapy Advanced Diploma (MASC):
I specialise in bereavement/loss counselling, self harm work, depression, relationship difficulties, Boundary work, Gestalt therapy and visual/play therapy.
I can simply offer you the space you need to explore yourself, I will be committed to supporting you the way you need to be supported in a professional empathic relationship to empower you the way you need it.
I value the counselling and support I have received and consider it an honour to be able to offer this to others, the trust, the respect, the confidentiality, the understanding, the acceptance...

Rosemary Spence
I commenced my career in London working in fashion in the late 1990’s which I loved, however I found it very stressful and as a result my health suffered. I became drawn to nutrition and found I was able to hugely improve my own health and wellbeing by making dietary changes. As a result I was enthralled and decided to study nutrition and change my career so I could help others.
I trained for 3 years at The College of Naturopathic Medicine in London, www.naturopathy-uk.com and completed a diploma course in Nutritional Therapy. I am registered with the British Association of Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy (BANT), www.bant.org.uk and have been practising ever since. I currently practice in both central London and North Devon & thoroughly love the challenge it brings.
I work with clients on a variety of health issues, but have particular expertise in chronic stress, digestive issues and weight loss.
I feel empowered that I can help others achieve better health and wellbeing and I look forward to helping you too. . .

The work I do can bring pain relief, enable free movement in body, mind and spirit and give you a real sense of being fully alive. I believe in empowerment, therefore a key element of the way I work is to give you techniques you can do between sessions, to support you on your track to healing.
A mum of two and lover of nature, I feel a deep sense of wonder working beside clients in their sessions and in workshops, unveiling with them their stories, their potential and supporting them in clearing the way forward. It is humbling and I love my work.
Having completed the ’Touch for Health’ foundation in kinesiology in 2003, I carried on studying with Carrie Jost at The School of Creative Kinesiology, qualifying professionally in 2005. I have since gone on to train in the Native American Medicine Wheel, teach foundation level Kinesiology (the lifetracking series), co-teach the 5 element nutrition for kinesiologists course and am currently studying to be able to provide the professional ‘Way of the Tracker’ training (beginning in march 2011). I am an associate member of the kinesiology federation.
I also run the Well Being Centre, Crediton and offer individual sessions and training at Exeter Natural Health Centre, see www.enhc.org.

Maternity Reflexology and Aromatherapy
My interest in complementary therapies began in my teens when I would make herbal concoctions for my family – which they discreetly emptied down the sink. This led to an interest in gardening and I trained in Landscape Studies and worked as a gardener and designer for many years.
After my first child was born my world changed again and the idea of rough, scratched, hard worked hands near her skin induced me to rethink what I would do when I went back to work. I had always been interested in massage and had picked up a leaflet advertising a local ITEC course which had been pinned to my notice board for about 2 years. After my son was born I enrolled on the ITEC massage course and have not stopped learning since.
Reflexology has changed my life, which is ironic as I was full of scepticism when I was training but the results I witnessed then and since have been astounding. I was contacted by a Midwife from Ivybridge and asked if I would be interested in attending a Maternity Reflexology Course. I was instantly interested in this area as I’d had two over-medicalised births. The training that I received on this course has already helped several women to have a more positive birth experience – ranging from relieving the discomfort of heartburn, relieving constipation to helping to re-establish a labour that had stopped after 12 hours of contractions.
Fertility and Maternity Reflexology are my specialist areas but I recently completed an ITEC Aromatherapy course to complement all the therapies that I do and to bring me full circle back to the plants that I love.
If you would like to book an appointment for any of my therapies please contact me on 01626 862469 or at www.susanquayle.co.uk
